About This Product
As fuel formulations have evolved — with the widespread adoption of ethanol blends, MTBE additives and other oxygenated compounds — the original Kolor Kut Water Finding Paste required a companion product able to perform reliably in these modern fuel chemistries. The Modified formula is that product.
Water contamination in oxygenated fuels presents a particularly insidious risk. Ethanol is hygroscopic — it actively absorbs moisture from the atmosphere — meaning ethanol-blended fuels are more prone to water accumulation over time, especially in storage tanks that experience temperature cycling or condensation. Undetected water leads to phase separation, microbial growth, corrosion and, in engines, misfires or component damage.
The Modified paste delivers the same field-proven colour-change mechanism as the original — applied to a dipstick, it changes colour sharply at the exact water-to-fuel interface — but its chemistry is adapted to remain stable and accurate in the presence of ethanol and oxygenate compounds that would otherwise interfere with a standard paste reading.
If you operate with conventional mineral fuels, the standard Kolor Kut Water Finding Paste remains the appropriate choice. For any fuel containing ethanol or oxygenates, the Modified version is the correct and reliable option.
